Under the terms of the Constitution of 24 August 1995, Parliament will be composed of two chambers:

the Council of the Republic,

and the Senate,

following the establishment of suitable conditions throughout the country and the formation of systems of local autonomy.

The Senate will then be composed of members elected in Abkhazia, Adjaria and in the other regions of Georgia, as well as 5 members appointed by the President of Georgia.

It should be noted that defining the composition of the future Senate may be precisely one of the keys to resolving the secessionist conflicts that are hindering its constitution.
